Meet the Stony Ridge Tiger Man!

Kenny Hetrick has had a passion for exotic animals since the age of 10. Kenny's devotion for exotic animals began in Florida, as an active volunteer at the Tarpon Zoo where he washed down pens and cleaned various structures. Once graduated from school, Kenny joined the Army Airborne, where he learned discipline and moral values. His knowledge from the zoo and values from the Army shaped him into the strong, caring man he is today.

When Kenny came to Ohio, he missed the feeling he would get by caring for these exotic animals so he obtained an Ocelot named Ginger. From there Kenny rescued abused, unwanted exotic animals and welcomed them with open arms into his home. For over 40 years Kenny has taken in these animals and made them a member of his family. Kenny's devotion for this animals has gone far and beyond any expectations. Waking up at the crack of dawn to feed, water and care for the individual needs of the animals has become his life.

Through this entire process, Kenny has obtained numerous licenses and certifications to meet the requirements imposed by the USDA and USDI, both in which are very difficult to obtain. Over the past 40 years Kenny has cared for over 150 exotic animals, which were raised like his own children. Kenny can single handedly tell you the name of every single animal he has cared for, the age in which they died as well as any specific veterinary care needs. Kenny's wife, Roberta Hetrick who passed away January 28th, 2010, was also an avid caregiver to their animals. Together, they developed Tiger Ridge Exotics Rescue.

The love and devotion Kenny and Roberta had for their animals was a story you would expect from a movie. Two people working together to provide homes for helpless, exotic animals, which otherwise would have had no place to go. Kenny and Roberta truly loved each and every one of their animals, and the proof is displayed through Kenny’s interactions with his animals. Not only does Kenny have a deep love for his exotic animals, the love displayed back from them is just as heartwarming.
